Leila Mire
Leila Mire is a Lebanese-American choreographer, performer, writer and educator based in New York City. She trained with the Tennessee Children’s Dance Ensemble before receiving her BFA in Dance Performance from George Mason University in 2018. Her work has been presented all over the world and she has danced for companies throughout New York and Washington, DC like ClancyWorks and Silk Road Dance Company. She has also published research on “Orientalism and the Perpetuation of Racist Stereotypes in the Nutcracker” and contributes to publications like ThinkingDance and Maryland Theatre Guide. In addition to performing as a solo artist, she teaches for several organizations including Artists Striving to End Poverty and DanceWave. She also co-runs the ASTEP Mutual Aid Network.
